This program is designed for health and safety professionals wishing to enhance their academic achievement, skills and obtain bachelor level degree within their area of expertise in order to launch their professional career or gain promotion or enter research in their chosen field. Designed for Health, Safety. Emergency and Environment professionals looking for a flexible way to continue their academic studies while working.
The Bachelor in Science Occupational Health and Safety and the Masters in Science Occupational Health and Safety Leadership are developed and delivered with UARD’s exclusive delivery partner Horizon. Horizon was founded in 2007 and works in the field of consulting services in the field of occupational health and safety, providing training to personnel engaged in the oil and gas industry and other production facilities, which are classified as dangerous. Horizon uses its extensive international experience and network to increase workplace safety.
Entry Requirements
A suitable GPA in high school graduation.
Be currently employed or about to be employed in a relevant organisation.

Awarding Requirements
To be awarded the title of BSc in Science Occupational Health and Safety, graduates must have:
- Completed 360 points from the following schedule of courses within 36 months of starting the programme
- Have attained a GPA of 3.5 or better (67%-70%)
- Have no outstanding fees
Recognition of Prior Learning
Students that have completed a recognised programme of learning, with learning outcomes that match the courses of study below, may apply for RPL.
Students that have acceptable work experience, may apply for Current Competency point credits.
In total point credit that can be awarded is 75% of the total Bachelor programme. This means, up to 270 point credits can be awarded, and a further 90 points must be gained to receive the award of this Bachelor.

Courses are Modular
Courses are grouped into Modules, to enable students to batch their learning according to their work commitments, study schedule, family requirements and financial capacity (not all students can afford to enrol into an entire Bachelor course).
Some modules include courses across years, for example, two courses from year one and one course from year two, as is appropriate. Additionally, some modules contain more courses than other modules. This is due to the style of assessments, type of topics and point value of the courses.
